What's the longest you've gone this past year without your phone, computer, TV, or any other "noise"?
Nine years ago, I did a 10-day Vipassana meditation course - no talking, no devices, no books. I loved the silence!
Fast forward to today, and my life is even busier. 🤯
While I’m committed to work/life balance, I’m super structured with my healthy routines and always curious about a million things I love learning about.
You could say it's all "good stuff", and I do sprinkle mindful practices throughout my day, but mostly my mind and body are very busy!! 😳
More and more, I knew I needed to just unplug for a while, but I find it super difficult to do this for very long. Always something to occupy myself with!
So, off I took myself to a 3-day Vipassana last weekend, to be forced to unplug. 🧘🏼♀️
It was exactly the pattern interrupt I needed!
My mind, body, and spirit had a much-needed reboot, and I had some big breakthroughs in areas that have challenged me for a long time.
I want to keep the benefits going, so I'm committing to a monthly 24-hour mini digital detox. 📱🖥️
Want to join me? Even just for a few hours?
Pick your timeframe – Start small and build up over time.
Out of sight, out of mind – Hide your phone in your sock drawer, leave your laptop at work, unplug the TV.
Be fully present – Go do you, without the digital noise.
Pay attention – What do you notice about this experience? What were the good things about it?
Make it a habit – Set a reminder for your next one!
I think the benefits will be different for everyone, so I won’t promise specific outcomes - but I can guarantee it will be a positive experiment! Happy unplugging.
